New Stuff In The Works

Thanks to everyone who pops over to this blog periodically to check in. Our radio show blog has a permanent home! It's now at We moved our wordpress blog there so please subscribe to it and stay up to speed with the latest unknown and emerging artists we're discovering and presenting.

Also, that's where we're hosting our podcasts. So far we've done 2 new podcasts with interviews with Joy Williams from The Civil Wars and Kelley McRae. You can hear them here and here. They're hosted by our Sous-Chef Meagan Hernandez.

The Winners Are.....

If you've been holding your breath for these past 4 months to find out who won the 2010 Golden Fork Awards, then you belong in the Guinness Book of World Records and we want your autograph. Thanks for being so patient.

Awards And Concerts

Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2010 Appetizer Golden Fork voting. We'll announce the winners very shortly.

We're also collaborating with The Paramount Theater and Monks' Coffeehouse in Abilene in concerts, bringing emerging bands and artists to Abilene. The month of March is full of some great concert opportunities including William Fitzsimmons (3/5 at The Paramount), The Civil Wars (3/10 at Monks) and Andrew Belle (3/25 at Monks).

Internships Available

The Appetizer is seeking interns to fulfill a variety of roles with the radio program. Interns will have the opportunity to train with radio veteran D Grant Smith in a variety of areas including interviewing, audio production, podcasting and more. Interns responsibilities also include

compiling weekly playlists for web and reporting

daily/weekly blogging on new indie artists and insights into upcoming episodes on blogspot and wordpress

audio/video podcasts with featured artist interviews and show segments

audio production for special features and segments to be included in The Appetizer broadcasts

assistance/organization in The Appetizer Street Team to promote the show at local events and music venues

marketing The Appetizer Fan Club to individuals and businesses

marketing The Appetizer for advertisers on radio and web
